| Dr. Alphonso Sanders has been involved in music education for over 25 years as an educator, clinician, adjudicator, and performer. He is presently the Chair of Fine Arts and Director of the BB King Recording Studio at Mississippi Valley State University. Dr. Sanders has also performed at many recognized festivals including the North Sea Jazz Festival, Den Hague, Netherlands; the Montreux Jazz Festival, Montreux, Switzerland; the Lucerne Blues Festival, Lucerne, Switzerland; the Mobile Jazz Festival; Many of the Delta Blues Festivals and the 1996 Summer Olympic entertainment festivities at Central Park, Atlanta, GA. As a Fulbright Scholar, Dr. Sanders studied abroad in China visiting 12 major cities, exploring the culture of Chinese music and visual arts. Alphonso also played with the David Lee Durham band (David Lee – deceased 2008) which won the First Indianola Blues Challenge of the Mississippi Delta Blues Society of Indianola which performed at the IBC and also later at the Lucerne Blues Festival in Switzerland. He is also featured on David Lee Durham’s CD “Struggling and Straining” which he and Mississippi Valley State University B.B. King Studio recorded. CD RELEASE: Alphonso just released his CD titled “Mississippi Influences” which is getting excellent reviews. |
